The Scotto's tradition started with the beliefs and dreams of one man, Tomas (Tommy) Scotto Lavina, and now, for over 18 years, Scotto's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria has been providing authentic Italian cuisine to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, settled in Waynesboro, Virginia. Coming to America in 1980, he learned about business and having the passion combined with the business knowledge, decided to fulfill those dreams. Chef Scotto learned, as a teenager, how to prepare delicious family recipes, sauces, baked dishes and other regional Italian foods from his mother, Josefina, and other family relatives, all from Naples, Italy. For generations, these delicious recipes have been carefully prepared and because of one man's drams, are still flourishing today along with some of his own creations added to the family recipe collection. The small family restaurant, with a customer base encompassing quite a large radius, Chef Scotto decided in 2000 to open an second location in Stuarts Draft, Virginia. With the signature Italian "Wall of Art", Scotto's Trattoria was a welcomed restaurant providing the same, delicious Napolitano cuisine. Partnered with his cousin, Adrian Micali, Chef Scotto taught him how to prepared the same, delicious recipes. Scotto's Trattoria has settled into the growing community of Stuarts Draft for over 6 years. Another family member traveled to the United States with similar dreams and ambitions, trained under Chef Scotto and, together they opened a third location in 2002 called "Casa di Scotto's", meaning the "House of Scotto's", located in Staunton, Virginia. After 3 years, now off the ground, Chef Scotto decided sell his share of the business and put his time and energy back into the original Scotto's Italian Restaurant. The original Scotto's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria has received the Best Italian Food Award, voted on by the citizens in and around the area, ever since the award has been in existence.
